Part 107030

V3000 Replacement motor and adaptor kit 12v and 24v motor and adaptor kits are available to repower your early style Nilsson V3000.There is a small amount of engineering involved to fit to your V3000. The screws to hold the assembly into the gearbox varied over production models and it is necessary to make up screws or studs and nuts to suit the actual winch under going an upgrade. The early Lucas brand motors were fitted with a roller clutch at the non drive end. This stopped the winch from running back under load. The upgrade adaptor kit includes a heavier duty roller clutch above the motor and this must be set up according to the winch build. Most 12v winches were built with a 3 stage gearbox and were right hand drive. However, many 24v winches had a 4 stage gearbox and the motor ran in the opposite direction to the 12v. Complicating this further were the left and right hand winch builds used in paired installations. It is therefore necessary to establish the correct direction of rotation for the motor and set up the roller clutch to suit when upgrading. This work can be done by a competent engineer or handyman. Half fill the gearbox with Castrol TC 00 grade flowing grease available from James Nilsson Ltd in 1 litre packs.
Part 436105: Adaptor Kit (Non reversing)
Part 336032: Motor 12v

Although the new motors supplied are reversible, we do not recommend converting these early winchesto reversing drives

V1000, L1000 replacement motor and adaptor kit
We can supply 12v and 24v modern motors to replace the original long shaft Lucas and Prestolite motors. Remove the top cover from the gearbox and clean out surplus grease. Hold gearbox firmly in a bench vice with soft face jaws. Use an oil filter clamp or a large plumbers pipe wrench and carefully unscrew the old motor assembly (normal LH or anticlockwise to unscrew) from the gearbox. Take care to remove the locking pin if your winch is a reversing (power up/power down) model.  There is a spacer at the outer end of the motor shaft, do not loose this item. After fitting the new motor and adaptor assembly, re drill the locking pin hole (if used) and fit pin.  Three quarters fill the gearbox with Castrol TC 00 grease available from James Nilsson Ltd in 1 litre bottles.
Part 436113: Adaptor Kit
Part 336035: Motor 12v
Part 336034: Motor 24v

Worm and worm wheels Worms and wheels are available for all of the VEC worm boxes. These had various ratios according to winch model and voltage. Worm and worm wheel set is only available as a matched pair. Worm wheel is not supplied with pin hole pre drilled It is necessary to use a drill press and vice to align the shaft and drill the new wheel. Pin must be a tight drive fit in wheel and shaft. Half fill the gearbox with Castrol TC 00 grade flowing grease available from James Nilsson Ltd in 1 litre packs. Worm must "float" 1 or 2 mm on shaft, adjust spacer if necessary
Part 107025: Worm and 29tooth wheel set
Part 107026: Worm and 50tooth wheel set
Part 107027: Worm and 57tooth wheel set
